About Me

Since childhood sports and athletics have been my life. My career ranged from competing in the National Punt, Pass and Kick Contest at halftime of the Eagles-Steelers game as a chubby 11-year old, to a high school baseball and football career, onto major college football as a player, and then a 30+ year coaching career primarily in football. I also coached baseball at the high school and college level. I hold a journalism degree from the U of Iowa. I stepped out of coaching for a few years, worked in corporate management in the Tampa Bay area and got my football fix by doing radio analyst work as part of the pre and post game shows for the South Florida Bulls football team in the Big East Conference. In 2010 I also hosted a Saturday morning college football radio show in Tampa.

Unable to stay away from the field as a coach any longer, I returned to college football in December of 2010 as part of my old college teammate and former boss at Iowa State, Dan McCarney's staff at North Texas.
